The Freshwater Collaborative partners with a number of the Universities of Wisconsin to offer freshwater programing for K-12 students and educators. The programs below are supported by Freshwater Collaborative funding and designed for educators. We also encourage you to share our High School Freshwater Programs with your students. UW-Eau Claire Environmental Science Day
UW-Eau Claire’s Environmental Science Day brings together high school students, teachers, and university faculty and students for a day of freshwater exploration and discovery. Participants attend interactive college courses and a science fair presented by UW-Eau Claire undergraduates. Teachers also gain new ideas for implementing environmental science activities in their classrooms. UW-Green Bay Freshwater Educator Network
UW-Green Bay coordinates a network of educators to facilitate programming within communities in the 16 county UW-Green Bay footprint and connect water-related work in high schools to UW-Green Bay and other Universities of Wisconsin campuses. The university hosts experiences and workshops for educators interested in bringing hands-on water science activities into their classrooms. Learn more. It also coordinates Wild Rice in the Classroom, the Lower Fox River Monitoring Group and the High School Freshwater Scholars.
UW Oshkosh Hands-on Programs for Educators
The Environmental Research and Innovation Center (ERIC) at UW Oshkosh provides hands-on applied experiences for teachers and students at their facility at UW Oshkosh. The ERIC has a classroom that can hold 28 students, and staff can develop customized hands-on experiences for classes and teachers who are interested in exploring freshwater field and laboratory techniques or concepts. The ERIC can also customize an experience that can translate into projects that can be done at your school utilizing our infrastructure as a support mechanism. Finally, the ERIC facility is on the Fox River and has the ability to take students and educators on our boat for unique on the water experiences that allow students to explore field applications related to freshwater sciences. UW-Superior Research Vessel Programs
UW-Superior’s R/V Sadie Ann is a Coast Guard-certified passenger vessel designed to be a floating classroom. Teachers can reserve the Sadie Ann to support curriculum or activities of their own design, or they can register their classes for programs offered by the Lake Superior Research Institute and aligned with common educational standards.
